Report: Tina Thompson to be inducted into 2018 Basketball Hall of Fame
WNBA legend Tina Thompson will reportedly be enshrined as a member of the 2018 Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame class, sources told ESPN's Chris Haynes.
Thompson joins a list of reported inductees including Steve Nash, Jason Kidd, Grant Hill, and executive Rod Thorn.
Selected first overall in the 1997 draft, Thompson would go on to play 17 seasons in the Association as a member of the Houston Comets and Los Angeles Sparks before retiring as a member of the Seattle Storm in 2013.
She averaged 15.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.1 assists on 41 percent shooting across 496 regular-season outings.
Thompson captured four straight championships during her WNBA run from 1997 through 2000 with the Comets. She was also named an All-Star on nine occasions, a member of the All-WNBA First Team three times, and won a pair of Olympic gold medals in 2004 and 2008 for the American women's team.
Thompson is the WNBA's second all-time leading scorer with 7,488 total points.
