Report: Warriors discussing multi-year deal with Quinn Cook
The Golden State Warriors have entered into "serious discussions" with point guard Quinn Cook on a multi-year contract, sources told ESPN's Chris Haynes and Marc J. Spears.
Cook, who went undrafted out of Duke in 2015, has played this season on a two-way contract. The deal he's discussing with the Warriors would convert that contract into a full guarantee for the remainder of this season as well as the 2018-19 campaign, Haynes and Spears report. The deadline for Cook's deal to be converted, in order for him to be playoff eligible, is April 10.
Cook has been inserted into the Warriors' starting lineup in the absence of Steph Curry, and has acquitted himself as well as anyone could've expected. For the season, the 25-year-old is averaging 8.9 points and 2.5 assists on a Curry-esque .493/.429/.905 shooting line across 29 games. In 14 games as a starter, he's put up 14.9 points and 3.9 assists on 61.5 percent true shooting.
The Warriors currently have 15 rostered players, so would need to waive someone to make room for Cook's converted deal.
