The Washington Wizards have reportedly signed free-agent point guard Ty Lawson ahead of the playoffs, league sources told Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports.
Lawson was granted a release from the Shandong Golden Stars of the Chinese Basketball Association to return to the NBA for the playoffs.
Washington lacked a third-string point guard heading into its first-round series against the Toronto Raptors. John Wall missed half the season, while Tomas Satoransky has been up and down as the reserve point guard.
Lawson last played in the NBA in 2017 as a member of the Sacramento Kings. He averaged 9.9 points and 4.8 assists while shooting 45.4 percent from the field and 28.8 percent from deep.
