Alvin Gentry will be back on the New Orleans Pelicans' sideline next season.

Gentry, who is in his third season as the Pelicans head coach, will have his team option picked up for the 2018-19 campaign, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

According to Wojnarowski's sources, management informed Gentry of its decision before the first round of the playoffs, where he coached the sixth-seeded Pelicans to a sweep of the third-seeded Portland Trail Blazers. That marked the franchise's first-ever sweep, and first series victory of any kind in the post-Chris Paul era.

The 63-year-old Gentry is in his 30th season on an NBA coaching staff, and his fifth stop as a head coach, following stints with the Miami Heat, Detroit Pistons, Los Angeles Clippers, and Phoenix Suns. He's coached the Pelicans to a 112-134 record over the past three years.
