Report: Knicks hoping to hire new coach this week
The New York Knicks have completed the interview process for their vacant head coaching position and are aiming to reach a consensus selection this week, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Several high-profile names have been interviewed by the Knicks, including former Memphis Grizzlies coach David Fizdale, former Atlanta Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer, and Golden State Warriors assistant Mike Brown.
Ex-Cleveland Cavaliers coach David Blatt, former Warriors coach Mark Jackson, Raptors 905 (Toronto's G League affiliate) coach Jerry Stackhouse, and former NBA star Kenny Smith also met with the Knicks about the position.
After missing a fifth straight postseason, New York (29-53) fired head coach Jeff Hornacek shortly after the team completed its final game this season. He finished his two-year tenure with a 60-104 record.
This will be the franchise's fifth head coach since its last playoff appearance.
