Warriors alerted NBA about Rondo's 'dangerous' step under Curry

Steve Kerr doesn't have a problem with players getting chippy, as long as they don't put each other in danger.

The Golden State Warriors head coach believes that was the case Friday when New Orleans Pelicans point guard Rajon Rondo stuck his foot out under Stephen Curry as the two-time MVP was landing after a jump shot.

"They're competing. I don't see anything wrong with it, other than the tripping. Can't do that," Kerr told reporters Saturday, via Anthony Slater of The Athletic. "I'm all for getting underneath guys' skin, but you can't step underneath a guy's foot or try to swipe a guy underneath his feet as he's shooting. Those are dangerous plays. Other than that, I like the competition."

The 2016 Coach of the Year confirmed his team let the league know about the tripping play. Warriors center Zaza Pachulia infamously undercut San Antonio Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard during the 2017 Western Conference finals, resulting in a season-ending injury for the two-time DPOY and the NBA implementing the "Zaza Rule."

"We'll probably send it in. It's not going to do anything, but hopefully they keep an eye on it," Kerr said.

Curry didn't have much to say about the play, which fortunately didn't result in an injury.

"I got no comment. If the league wants to look into it, that's on them. We're trying to win Game 4," the superstar point guard told ESPN's Chris Haynes.

That wasn't the only instance of horseplay by Rondo, who was assessed a technical foul for sticking his foot out in an apparent attempt to step on Draymond Green's foot or to trip him.

Rondo and Green then accused each other of instigating their multiple quarrels throughout the series. The Warriors have a 2-1 lead, with Game 4 set for Sunday in New Orleans.
