Mitchell, Simmons headline All-Rookie class as unanimous 1st-teamers

The NBA announced its All-Rookie teams Tuesday, honoring its most heralded class of first-year players in years.

Philadelphia 76ers forward Ben Simmons and Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell headline the honorees as the only rookies unanimously voted to the first team. Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum (who received 99 out of 100 first-team votes), Los Angeles Lakers forward Kyle Kuzma, and Chicago Bulls big man Lauri Markkanen round out the first team.

Los Angeles Lakers point guard Lonzo Ball, Dallas Mavericks guard Dennis Smith Jr., Atlanta Hawks center John Collins, Sacramento Kings guard Bogdan Bogdanovic, and Phoenix Suns swingman Josh Jackson were voted to the second team.

The narrowest omission was Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo, who finished one voting point shy of Jackson's total.

Other rookies who received votes were Adebayo (44), Kings point guard De'Aaron Fox (34), Raptors forward OG Anunoby (25), Nets center Jarrett Allen (18), Grizzlies swingman Dillon Brooks (14), Warriors center Jordan Bell (5), Jazz forward Royce O'Neale (4), Trail Blazers center Zach Collins (3), Clippers point guard Milos Teodosic (3), Pistons shooting guard Luke Kennard (1), Kings point guard Frank Mason III (1), Hornets shooting guard Malik Monk (1), Knicks point guard Frank Ntilikina (1), Celtics forward Semi Ojeleye (1), and Clippers swingman Sindarius Thornwell (1).
