The Milwaukee Bucks have reached a four-year agreement with Mike Budenholzer to become their new head coach, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
The hiring comes on the heels of a reported breakfast meeting between Budenholzer and Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo on Wednesday morning, according to ESPN's Zach Lowe.
Budenholzer was linked with several teams since parting ways with the Atlanta Hawks, including a meeting with the Toronto Raptors, but an offer was never extended, Wojnarowski reports.
In five seasons with the Hawks, Budenholzer compiled a 213-197 record, including a 60-win campaign in 2014-15. He is coming off the worst season of his head coaching career, winning just 24 games in 2017-18 as Atlanta enters a full roster rebuild.
Budenholzer is joining a Milwaukee team (44-38) that recently concluded a disappointing campaign, finishing seventh in the East. Jason Kidd was let go 45 games into his fourth season as Bucks bench boss and was replaced by assistant Joe Prunty on an interim basis.
The Bucks were then eliminated in seven games by the Boston Celtics in the first round of the playoffs.
