Cousins unfollows Pelicans on Instagram with free agency looming
With unrestricted free agency looming, DeMarcus Cousins' future in New Orleans is hazy.
Pelicans teammate Anthony Davis has said he expects Cousins to re-sign, but given that the team performed just as well (if not better) without him, and that Cousins will be coming off an Achilles tear and figures to command a lucrative contract, there's a lot of uncertainty surrounding the four-time All-Star's upcoming summer.
Amidst the clouded circumstances, Cousins has apparently unfollowed the Pelicans on Instagram. When asked why by commenters/amateur sleuths on his Instagram post Thursday, Cousins responded, "cause I'm grown."
Cousins isn't the only player to sever social media ties with his incumbent team in the past few days. Dennis Schroder also unfollowed the Atlanta Hawks after planting seeds of doubt about his future with the team. It will likely be a while before we know whether any of this means anything.
