Trae Young's combine measurements leave much to be desired

The metrics come secondary to ability, but Oklahoma freshman point guard Trae Young did not grade well at the NBA Draft Combine.

Young was the lightest (178 pounds) player measured, with the smallest wingspan (6-foot-3). These numbers come after he claimed to have gained 10 pounds of muscle in the five weeks that followed the end of the collegiate season.

These tepid measurements only further exacerbate concerns over his viability as an NBA-level defender. It's not that Young is too small to be effective - he's roughly the same size as Chris Paul and Kemba Walker - but he showed little aptitude or willingness to stop anyone in college.

But then again, nobody is drafting Young on the basis of his athleticism or his defense. Young is considered a lottery pick because he led the nation in scoring and assists, and because he can reliably pull-up from anywhere within 35 feet of the basket.
