Celtics not thinking about poor playoff road record going into Cleveland
The Boston Celtics are on a roll right now, but they haven't exactly torn it up on the road during these NBA playoffs. Inside the friendly confines of TD Garden, Boston is 9-0. On the road, the team is 1-4.
Enter narratives about doubt as the Celtics head to Cleveland with a 2-0 lead over the Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference finals.
"My reaction is I can't wait for Game 3, and I'll just leave it at that," Celts forward Jaylen Brown told reporters Thursday when asked about their road woes. "I think we're pretty confident, just as confident as we were at home. There's a difference definitely between being on the road and at home, just the energy disparity."
If LeBron James and the Cavs have any real chance of getting back into the series, then Saturday's Game 3 at Quicken Loans Arena is a must-win. For the Celtics, it's a chance to put James' squad in a stranglehold.
"The stage is set for all of us to do something spectacular," Brown said. "Why not come out and play hard? Everybody says we're playing with house money anyway, so why not come out with the energy level that we need and try to do something special?"
When asked if he had any thoughts about the Celtics' road record during the playoffs, head coach Brad Stevens was succinct.
"I like the one we won," he said. "I didn't like the rest of them."
