Shaq covers funeral costs of woman killed outside high school graduation
Shaquille O'Neal paid for the funeral of a woman who was fatally shot outside a high school graduation in Georgia last Friday, according to the Clayton County Sheriff's Office.
The NBA Hall of Famer, who was sworn in as an honorary Clayton County sheriff's deputy in December 2016, reached out to Sheriff Victor Hill shortly after hearing about the shooting to offer his help.
"The length of his heart far exceeds his height," Hill said in a statement, according to WSBTV.com. "We never ask him for anything, but when he sees a need, he is Johnny on the spot!"
The victim was caught in the crossfire of a fight that broke out in a parking lot outside Mount Zion High School after the ceremony. She was shot multiple times in the chest. Another woman was shot in the leg, and a pregnant woman was thrown to the ground during the commotion.
Two people have been arrested in relation to the incident.
