Iguodala to sit out Game 7 vs. Rockets
Golden State Warriors swingman Andre Iguodala will not play in Game 7 of the Western Conference finals against the Houston Rockets on Monday night, Warriors coach Steve Kerr told reporters, including The Mercury News' Mark Medina.
Iguodala suffered a lower left leg contusion in the fourth quarter of Game 3 and hasn't played since. He was averaging 8.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.7 steals on 71.1 percent true shooting in the series before getting injured.
The Warriors initially struggled to adapt without their two-way Swiss Army knife and the lineup flexibility he provides them. They lost the first two games he missed to get pushed to the brink of elimination, and trailed by 10 after two quarters of Game 6 before going nuclear in the second half. The Warriors had started their small-ball "Hamptons 5" lineup for the first three games of the series, but in Iguodala's absence, have gone to a more traditional look to start, with Kevon Looney slotting in at center.
That lineup has been more effective against the Rockets, who wield a terrifying small-ball unit of their own. Golden State has outscored Houston by 17.4 points per 100 possessions with Looney on the floor, the best mark for any Warriors rotation player in the series.
