Ayton expects to be drafted 1st overall, will only work out for Suns
Potential No. 1 pick Deandre Ayton worked out for the Suns on Wednesday and it's beginning to seem like a match made in heaven. The Arizona product was adamant that he'd prefer to remain in-state and play for Phoenix, which owns the top pick in the NBA draft.
"I know I'm going No. 1," Ayton told reporters after his workout, according to the Arizona Republic's Clevis Murray.
The 7-foot-1 center added he will not be working out for any other team, with plenty of speculation suggesting Phoenix will draft Ayton and pair him with star guard Devin Booker.
A few Suns attended the individual workout, including Booker, Josh Jackson, and Dragan Bender - all of whom are expected to spend time with Ayton Wednesday night, Suns general manager Ryan McDonough said.
The draft will be held on June 21 in Brooklyn.
