With the 57th pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, the Oklahoma City Thunder selected UT-Arlington power forward Kevin Hervey.

After a phenomenal collegiate career with the Mavericks, Hervey has become the first player drafted to the NBA in the school's history. His shooting prowess and ability to guard multiple positions make him a promising prospect, and Oklahoma wasn't scared off by his two ACL tears.

Named first-team All-Sun Belt this season, Hervey averaged 20.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game while shooting 44.6 percent from the field and 80.6 percent from the free throw line.

What the analysts are saying

"A long, skilled forward, Hervey had a highly productive career at UT-Arlngton and could be a useful floor spacer and bench scorer at the next level. He has a 7-foot-3 wingspan and rebounds well, though isn’t overly mobile or athletic. As a result, he’s somewhat of a tweener defensively and will have to be utilized carefully to create a matchup advantage. He never shot above 34 percent from three in college, but his ability to do damage inside and out in a variety of situations is certainly interesting." Jeremy Woo, Sports Illustrated.
