Pelicans draft Tony Carr with No. 51 pick
With the 51st pick pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, the New Orleans Pelicans selected Penn State guard Tony Carr.
A microwave-type scorer for the Nittany Lions this past season, Carr should be able to stick in the league as a Rodney Stuckey-like guard off the bench, as long as he improves as a playmaker and a defender.
The Philly native was Penn State's leading scorer this season, averaging 19.6 points, five assists, and 4.9 rebounds per game while earning first-team All-Big Ten honors.
Tony Carr
Position: SG
School: Penn State
Class: Sophomore
Height: 6-foot-4
Weight: 198 lbs
Wingspan: 6-foot-8
Max vertical: 31.5 inches
What the analysts are saying
"Carr's offensive talent is NBA-caliber, but he needs to round out the rest of his game. After leading Penn State to an NIT title, it made sense for Carr to capitalize and turn pro." - Jeremy Woo, Sports Illustrated.
