Mavs get NCAA Player of the Year Brunson in 2nd round
Robert Deutsch-USA TODAY Sports
With the No. 33 pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, the Dallas Mavericks selected Villanova point guard Jalen Brunson.
Brunson is coming off a junior season in which he averaged 18.9 points and 4.6 assists with a sparkling .521/.408/.802 shooting line and a minuscule 10.7-percent turnover rate, leading the Wildcats to the national championship and earning Naismith Award honors as the top player in college basketball.
Brunson brings elite shooting and strong leadership, but there are questions about his physical profile and defensive upside.
Position: PG

What the analysts are saying
- "His leadership and intangibles could be attractive on a roster that already has quite a bit of talent." - Jonathan Givony, ESPN
- "While lacking elite size and explosiveness for an NBA lead guard, Brunson has the skill and craftiness to somewhat make up for it. He has the full arsenal of moves on offense." - William Peter Desautelle III, NBADraft.net
