With the 40th pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, the Brooklyn Nets selected Barcelona forward Rodions Kurucs.
Kurucs had originally entered his name into the 2017 draft but was forced to withdraw due to a conflict with his club and a buyout, which would have made it difficult for him to come to the NBA immediately.
Playing time has also been hard to come by, as Kurocs only averaged 7.2 minutes per game in the Liga ACB and four in the Euroleague, with his numbers taking a major hit as a result.

What the analysts are saying
- "Kurucs, 20, is currently slated 39th in the latest ESPN mock draft. His combination of size, polished scoring instincts, and multi-positional versatility is attractive in today's NBA." - ESPN's Jonathan Givony
- "He’s a good athlete out in space with strong scoring instincts, good handle, and an improving jump shot. Defensively, his feet are pretty quick, and his size could allow him to provide some versatility while letting a team stay big. Still, a lot of this is theoretical, as Kurucs has yet to show off his skills at a high level of competition in Europe." - The Athletic's Sam Vecenie
