Report: Hawks, Mavs discussing swap involving No. 3 and 5 picks
USA Today Sports
The Dallas Mavericks and the Atlanta Hawks are discussing a deal to swap the Hawks' No. 3 pick for the Mavericks' No. 5 pick, but Dallas is unwilling to round out the trade by parting with Wesley Matthews to receive Kent Bazemore, league sources told The New York Times' Marc Stein.
The Mavericks are rumored to have interest in moving up to select Slovenian star Luka Doncic, and the Hawks hoped to gain assets while moving down to draft guard Trae Young, league sources told WSB's Zach Klein.
The Mavericks are apparently cool on Bazemore and the $37 million he's owed over the next two seasons. If the deal does not go through, they will look to draft Mohamed Bamba or Wendell Carter, Stein reports.
