Dwane Casey named Coach of the year
Former Toronto Raptors head coach Dwane Casey was named NBA Coach of the Year at the 2018 NBA Awards on Monday night.
He beat out Boston Celtics coach Brad Stevens and Quinn Snyder of the Utah Jazz to take home the hardware.
The Raptors won a franchise-best 59 games during the 2017-18 regular season and finished first in the Eastern Conference.

Casey, however, was fired by the Raptors after being swept in three of the last four postseasons, which he poked fun at during his acceptance speech.
"When you get fired - which I did recently, I don't know if you knew that or not - after winning Coach of the Year, you always doubt yourself a little bit," Casey said. "You think, 'Okay, can I do this? Do I want to do this again?'"
After being let go by Toronto, Casey was quickly hired to be the new head coach of the Detroit Pistons, and he thanked Pistons owner Tom Gores during his speech.
Just to make things a little awkward on social media, both the Raptors' and Pistons' Twitter accounts congratulated Casey on his win.
Congratulations to Dwane. https://t.co/LoviJVFllD
