The Denver Nuggets are trying to force their way into the LeBron James sweepstakes and are aggressively pursuing a meeting with the four-time MVP, according to Yahoo Sports' Chris Mannix.

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers remain the front-runners for James' services as they have the ability to sign the superstar outright. If the Nuggets somehow convince James to head to Colorado next season, they would need to execute a sign-and-trade with the Cavaliers.

Denver has been active to begin free agency. It's already reportedly locked up star center Nikola Jokic to a five-year, $146.5-million deal and apparently re-signed super-sub Will Barton on a four-year, $54-million deal.

The Nuggets could surround James with young talent like Jokic, Gary Harris, and Jamal Murray as well as veteran forward Paul Millsap.
