Report: 76ers to meet with LeBron's representatives
The Philadelphia 76ers will make their case on Sunday.
Sixers executives are preparing to meet with LeBron James' representatives in Los Angeles, league sources told Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. James, however, will not be in attendance.
James also reportedly spoke to the Cleveland Cavaliers over the phone once free agency formally kicked off at 12:01 a.m. ET on Sunday. He is also expected to speak with the Los Angeles Lakers, although no formal meeting has been reported as of yet.
Philadelphia can open enough cap room to accommodate James, and offer him a young and competitive roster to continue dominating the Eastern Conference for years to come. Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons are locked in as franchise cornerstones, and their rapid development was validated when Sixers won 52 games last season.
The 33-year-old superstar touched down in Los Angeles on Sunday following a vacation in Anguilla, and is staying at his home in Brentwood. He declined his $36-million player option Saturday to become an unrestricted free agent.
