Moments after securing a commitment from LeBron James, the Los Angeles Lakers have come to terms on a one-year, $12-million deal with James' fellow Klutch Sports client Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, sources told Yahoo's Shams Charania.
It's the second straight one-year deal Caldwell-Pope has agreed to with the Lakers, after signing for $18 million last summer.
The 25-year-old shooting guard averaged 13.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.4 steals this past season, shooting career-best percentages from the field (42.6) and 3-point range (38.3) while providing high-end perimeter defense.
Factoring in Julius Randle's cap hold, the Lakers now project to have approximately $9 million in cap space. Renouncing him would get them to more than $20 million in space.
