The Utah Jazz will not waive forward Thabo Sefolosha, guaranteeing his $5.25-million contract for the 2018-19 season, sources told Tony Jones of the Salt Lake Tribune.
Sefolosha's contract was fully non-guaranteed but has a July 1 trigger date, after which it becomes locked in for the full amount.
The 34-year-old's first season in Utah was cut short due to an MCL tear, but in 38 games before the injury, he was producing arguably his best NBA season, averaging a career-high 8.2 points on 59.1 percent true shooting with a career-best 15.8 PER, while adding his patented tenacious, long-armed perimeter defense.
He will start next season on the inactive list as he serves a five-game suspension for violating the league's anti-drug policy.
