Charlotte Hornets second-year guard Malik Monk will be shut down for six-to-eight weeks due to a fractured thumb on his right hand (his shooting hand), according to the Charlotte Observer's Rick Bonnell.
Monk, who averaged 6.7 points, 1.4 assists, and one rebound per game as a rookie last season, was competing with the Hornets' team at the Las Vegas Summer League.
In his lone appearance on the summer circuit before his reported injury, he dropped 23 points on 9-of-16 shooting against the Oklahoma City Thunder, adding two assists, two steals, and a rebound.
