Nets get Dudley, protected 2nd-round pick from Suns for Arthur
The Brooklyn Nets have acquired Jared Dudley and a protected 2021 second-round pick from the Phoenix Suns in exchange for Darrell Arthur, the Nets confirmed Friday.
The selection being sent to Brooklyn is reportedly protected if it falls between picks 31-35.
Arthur, set to make $7.5 million next season in the final year of his contract, will reportedly be bought out by the Suns. The 30-year-old power forward struggled to find footing in the Denver Nuggets' frontcourt rotation last season, playing just 7.4 minutes per game in 19 appearances. The Nuggets traded Arthur, Kenneth Faried, and a pair of picks to the Nets on July 12 in what amounted to a salary dump.
Dudley could be headed toward the same fate as Arthur, as the 33-year-old forward is owed $9.5 million in the final year of his deal. Over the previous two seasons serving as a veteran reserve for the building Suns, Dudley averaged 5.2 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 18.3 minutes per game.
