Lowry evasive when asked about new Raptors teammate Leonard
Toronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry was rather evasive at the USA Basketball minicamp in Las Vegas when he was asked questions about his newest teammate, Kawhi Leonard, and the upcoming season.
"I'm here for (USA Basketball)," he said, when asked Raptors-related questions, according to Josh Lewenberg of TSN.
Lowry did answer one question about his new teammate, however. When asked whether he and Leonard had a relationship, the guard simply answered, "No."
Upon being pressed further as to when he might be ready to look ahead to the upcoming season, Lowry provided reporters with a general timeline.
"When it's time to. When it's time I have to be there and go to work, I'll be ready to go to work and I'll be ready to make my comments and things like that," he said.
Lowry's friendship with former teammate DeMar DeRozan has been well-documented over the past six seasons. For his part, DeRozan has been critical of the way his trade to the San Antonio Spurs was handled. It's possible Lowry is still processing the events of the past weeks, too.
The 6-foot-1 point guard is now the last remaining pillar of the Raptors' previous triumvirate of himself, former Raptors (and current Detroit Pistons) coach Dwane Casey, and DeRozan.
