Robert Horry: Capela's not a max player, benefits from Harden
Robert Horry won the first two of his seven NBA titles with the Houston Rockets, and he has an opinion on Houston recently re-signing Clint Capela to a reported five-year, $90-million contract.
"Capela isn't underrated or overrated," Horry told Brandon "Scoop B" Robinson on Scoop B Radio.
"What I mean by that is he gets a lot of points because of James Harden. I had the pleasure of playing with Jason Kidd for one game and I got a lot of points because of him. Just because you did this and that, does that make you an elite player?"
Capela excelled the last two seasons as the lone big man in most Rockets lineups, opening himself up for lobs from Harden and Chris Paul. Not a threat from the perimeter, Capela shot 65 percent from the floor last season, with virtually all of his shots coming at or near the rim.
"Everybody says he wants to get max money and to me, he is not a max player, because he is just a player who got a lot of dunks off a really good player who drew a big crowd," Horry said.
Capela, like most restricted free agents, found this summer's marketplace challenging. The 24-year-old Swiss native reportedly wanted $100 million over four years but didn't receive any offer sheets from other clubs.
