LeBron's 'Equality' sneakers to be displayed at Smithsonian

The black and white "Equality" Nike LeBron 15 shoes worn by LeBron James against the Washington Wizards on Dec. 17, 2017 have made their way to the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture.

A group of 59 students from across the U.S. were on hand for the unveiling of the shoes on Tuesday. James was unable to attend the event due to prior commitments, but he did record a message for the young attendees.

The shoes will be on display at the museum's sports gallery beginning this fall.

"We all know where we are right now, and we know who is at the helm here," James told ESPN's Dave McMenamin when asked about his shoes after the December game. "Us as Americans, no matter the skin color, no matter the race, no matter who you are, I think we all have to understand that having equal rights and being able to stand for something and speak for something and keeping the conversation going (is important)."
