Chris Paul has made the largest donation ever to Wake Forest by a former Demon Deacons basketball player.

The Houston Rockets superstar gifted his alma mater $2.5 million in support of its basketball program, the school announced in a release.

Paul's donation will be used to upgrade both the men's and women's basketball clubhouses and to enhance the locker rooms, nutrition resources, and treatment areas within the facility.

The men's locker room will also be named the "Chris Paul Locker Room."

"Giving back has always been important to my family and me, and Wake Forest is part of my family." Paul said. "The recent investments toward improving Wake Forest Athletics are amazing, and now is the time to give back in a meaningful way."

Paul spent two seasons at Wake Forest in his hometown of Winston-Salem, N.C., and led the school to its first No.1 national ranking during his sophomore year in 2004-05. His jersey was retired by the program in 2013.
