Free-agent center Jahlil Okafor and the New Orleans Pelicans have agreed to a partially guaranteed contract for 2018-19 with a team option for the following season, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Okafor, the third pick of the 2015 draft by the Philadelphia 76ers, has struggled since being named to the NBA's All-Rookie team. He was traded to the Brooklyn Nets in December, and then averaged 6.4 points and 2.9 rebounds in 26 games with the team.
Adding Okafor would give the Pelicans another big man behind Anthony Davis, Julius Randle, and Nikola Mirotic. The 22-year-old is also a distant cousin of forward Emeka Okafor, who played 26 games for New Orleans last season.
