Beverley: Clippers 'are the best team in L.A. for sure'
Los Angeles Clippers point guard Patrick Beverley certainly isn't afraid to declare which is the superior basketball team playing out of Staples Center.
"I'll tell y'all right now, we are the best team in L.A. for sure," Beverley told Clutch Points' Tomer Azarly.
"The makeup of our team, the depth of our team ... We are going to give our best effort every night and we are making the playoffs."
The Clippers have been the stronger squad since 2011-12, finishing with a better winning percentage than the Lakers in each of the last six years.
In a franchise-altering move, the Lakers went out and made the biggest splash of the summer by landing four-time NBA Most Valuable Player LeBron James in free agency. They then followed that by adding Rajon Rondo, Michael Beasley, Lance Stephenson, and JaVale McGee to surround the King.
With a budding core still intact featuring Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, Brandon Ingram, and Josh Hart, the purple and gold may be poised to end its five-year postseason drought in 2019.
Beverley is working his way back from a season-ending knee injury he suffered in November. He averaged 12.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.7 steals in his first 11 appearances as a Clipper.
