Drake suggests he wants to own the Raptors
Drake's title with the Toronto Raptors is currently limited to "global ambassador," but according to his Instagram account, he could have grander designs down the road.
However, the rapper may have a ways to go.
The Raptors are currently owned by conglomerate Maple Leaf Sports Entertainment, which also controls the NHL's Maple Leafs, Toronto FC of MLS, and the CFL's Toronto Argonauts, among other assets. The Raptors alone were valued by Forbes at $1.4 billion USD in February, and the same publication pegged Drake's net worth at $90 million last year.
The Toronto native is reportedly not paid by the Raptors to act as their global ambassador, although it's widely assumed he profits off the team's OVO-inspired gear and a members-only club named after his grandparents inside Scotiabank Arena.
