Report: Elton Brand among internal candidates for Sixers' GM opening
A former NBA All-Star is on the Philadelphia 76ers' radar for their general manager position.
Elton Brand will be among four internal front-office executives to be interviewed for the role next week, league sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.
Brand has been a fast riser in front office circles since his retirement in 2016; he served as the GM of the 76ers' G-League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats, this past season.
The three other candidates, Ned Cohen, Marc Eversley, and Alex Rucker, are well regarded within the 76ers' front office. Eversley is currently the vice president of player personnel, Cohen is the associate vice president and chief of staff, while Rucker works as the team's vice president of analytics and strategy.
Philadelphia has been meeting with outside candidates this week. The team was scheduled to interview Denver Nuggets GM Arturas Karnisovas, but he turned down the opportunity, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer's Keith Pompey.
The 76ers have been without a GM since Bryan Colangelo's resignation over his Twitter scandal, with head coach Brett Brown filling the role in the interim.
