Report: Booker to undergo hand surgery, expected to miss start of camp
Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker will reportedly undergo hand surgery Monday and is expected to miss the beginning of training camp, according to 98.7 FM Arizona Sports' John Gambadoro.
Booker struggled with his hand last season and was forced to wear a splint that caused him to miss the final 12 games of the year.
Phoenix's training camp begins Sept 25. They will play their first game of the season on Oct 17 against the Dallas Mavericks.
The Suns currently have little guard depth, specifically at point guard, where Booker is expected to play big minutes after Phoenix dealt Brandon Knight to the Houston Rockets in exchange for Ryan Anderson and De'Anthony Melton.
Booker, 21, signed a five-year, $158-million contract extension earlier this summer.
He averaged 24.9 points, 4.5 boards, and 4.7 assists in 54 games last season.
