Justin Patton of the Minnesota Timberwolves has suffered a cruel and unfortunate fate.
The 2017 first-round pick reportedly broke his right foot during workouts this week, sources told The Athletic's Jon Krawcyznski and Shams Charania.
He'll reportedly undergo surgery to repair the damage early next week.
Patton previously broke his left foot ahead of last year's Summer League by slipping on a wet floor, forcing him to go under the knife and miss all but one game during the regular season. He then underwent a second surgery back in April to "encourage further healing."
Minnesota acquired the draft rights to the center along with All-Star Jimmy Butler from the Chicago Bulls in June 2017.
