Report: Knicks nearing agreement to waive Noah
The Joakim Noah era of New York Knicks basketball is approaching a resolution.
The Knicks are close to an agreement that would see the team part ways with the 33-year-old center by using the stretch provision to spread out his $37.8-million salary, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania.
The move would allow the Knicks to soften Noah's $19.3-million cap hit for the 2019-20 season by spreading it out through the 2021-22 campaign in $6.4-million installments, according to The Athletic's Mike Vorkunov.
Charania adds several teams are monitoring Noah's situation, though it's unclear which teams would be interested in adding the veteran big man.
Noah appeared in just seven games last season with the Knicks amidst a reported bitter feud with former head coach Jeff Hornacek.
