Celtics point guard Terry Rozier will have his father in attendance for the first time in his NBA career when Boston faces the Cleveland Cavaliers in preseason action on Saturday.

Terry Rozier Sr. spent 23 of the last 25 years behind bars and missed out on watching his son play in person, dating back to the latter's days as a standout at Shaker Heights High School in Ohio. The elder Rozier was released from prison this summer after serving a 15-year sentence.

"This is emotional," Terry Sr. told Mark Murphy of the Boston Herald. "I can't wait for Saturday, the first time ever. A lot of people think I'm so emotional when I talk about it. I've been waiting a long time to come home and watch my son."

For his part, Rozier said he's looking forward to rebuilding his relationship with his dad.

"It’s my father, just happy he gets another chance at life, and that he knows I'm here for him," he said. "It's not like you’re out of jail and I'm going to put a million dollars in your hands or anything like that, but I'm happy he's here and I want that relationship back.

"It's just crazy every time I see him call, it means he's out. It's just crazy."
