Spurs' Murray diagnosed with torn ACL
San Antonio Spurs guard Dejounte Murray has been diagnosed with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
The Spurs will release a recovery timeline at a later date, though Murray is likely to miss a sizable amount - if not all - of the upcoming season as a result.
The 22-year-old suffered the injury in the second quarter of Sunday's preseason loss to the Houston Rockets as he attempted a layup against Rockets guard James Harden. After planting his right foot, Murray's right knee can be seen buckling under his weight before the point guard collapses to the floor in considerable pain.
He appeared in all but one game for the Spurs while making 48 starts last season, averaging 8.1 points, 2.9 assists, and 5.7 rebounds. He was rewarded for his defense with a spot on the NBA All-Defensive Second Team.
