Kevin Love's absence from the Cleveland Cavaliers' lineup just got longer.
Love underwent surgery on his left foot Friday, the team announced, with a timeline for his return to basketball activity to be updated in approximately six weeks.
The five-time All-Star said earlier this week that he was hoping to back in action in under a month, and hadn't decided yet whether surgery was necessary. Friday's news means he will likely be out until at least mid-December.
The situation may also further complicate the rebuilding Cavs' ability to trade Love, which they cannot do until Jan. 23. Love struggled to shoot the ball in the season's first four games but still averaged a double-double.
