Curry to miss Warriors' next 2 games with groin strain, Draymond returning
Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr told reporters on Monday that Stephen Curry will miss the team's next two games as he recovers from a left groin strain, via ESPN's Nick Friedell.
"He's doing OK," Kerr said. "It's a tricky injury. He's never had a groin injury before, so as I said the other day, the MRI was encouraging. There didn't appear to be anything dramatic in there, but the MRI doesn't always tell the story and you really have to go on symptoms.
"He won't play tonight or tomorrow and we're still going to evaluate daily and see where it all goes, but it's frustrating for him. He's had such a great start to the year. But again, it's a new injury for him and we've got to make sure he's fully healthy before we put him back out there."
Curry suffered the injury during the third quarter of the Warriors' 134-111 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday.
The superstar will miss games on Monday and Tuesday against the L.A. Clippers and Atlanta Hawks, respectively.
The Warriors are getting good news on the injury front, however, as All-Star forward Draymond Green is set to return following a two-game absence due to a right toe sprain. Green urged Kerr to allow him to compete against the Bucks for his first opportunity of the season to take on early MVP candidate Giannis Antetokounmpo.
"I wanted to play in that game bad," Green said. "(Kerr) wouldn't let me play, though. And then he wouldn't let me play Saturday (against the Brooklyn Nets), either. So it kind of sucked but it's all good."
Backup point guard Shaun Livingston will also return on Monday after missing seven games with foot soreness.
