Los Angeles Lakers point guard Rajon Rondo underwent surgery on his fractured third metacarpal and is expected to miss the next four-to-five weeks, the team announced on Thursday.
Lakers head coach Luke Walton said he expected Rondo to be out "a few weeks" after suffering the injury to his right hand in the Lakers' victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday.
Rondo is averaging 8.5 points and 6.5 assists through 11 games this season. The team has generally played better with him on the floor, outscoring opponents by 3.5 points per 100 possessions in 278 minutes; that rate drops to just 0.1 points per 100 possessions when he's on the bench.
