LeBron James is working on a new movie about his own life.

The Los Angeles Lakers star and his business partner, Maverick Carter, are among the producers on a Universal film based on the book "Shooting Stars," which James co-wrote with "Friday Night Lights" author Buzz Bissinger, according to Justin Kroll of Variety.

"Shooting Stars" tells the story of James and his best friends from Akron, Ohio, who met while playing together on a basketball team of the same name when they were 10 and 11 years old.

Juel Taylor and Tony Rettenmaier wrote the script for the yet-to-be-titled film, while Chris Robinson, best known for his work on the FOX television series "Star," has been tapped to direct.
