Cousins assigned to Warriors' G League affiliate
Boogie is inching closer to his debut for the defending champions.
Golden State Warriors center DeMarcus Cousins has been assigned to the team's G League affiliate, the Santa Cruz Warriors, the team announced Monday.
The four-time All-Star hasn't played since tearing his Achilles on Jan. 26 while still a member of the New Orleans Pelicans.
Cousins signed a one-year, $5.4-million contract with the Warriors during the summer after struggling to land a long-term deal following the injury.
The controversial signing gave Golden State a fifth superstar - Cousins, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green - all of whom have made at least one All-NBA team within the past three seasons.
Before his season came to an abrupt end, Cousins was averaging 25.2 points, 12.9 boards, and 5.4 assists through 48 appearances.
