Report: Rockets emerging as suitor for Caldwell-Pope
The Houston Rockets are emerging as a suitor for Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope in a multi-team trade scenario, league sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania, who reports the Phoenix Suns are also in the mix.
Teams involved would need to search for a fourth team to acquire Brandon Knight's contract along with draft picks from the Rockets, sources told Charania.
The Rockets are in an increasingly dire situation, having lost seven of 10 while dropping to 14th in the Western Conference. They could use any sort of scoring punch on the wing and were reportedly linked to JR Smith on Tuesday.
Caldwell-Pope signed a one-year pact with the Lakers last summer and has veto power on any trade. This Saturday marks the first day that players who signed deals last summer can be dealt.
The 25-year-old is having a somewhat disappointing season shooting the ball for the Lakers, although he has shot 43 percent from beyond the arc in his last five games.
