The Dallas Mavericks are escalating discussions to find a trade for point guard Dennis Smith Jr., and have engaged in talks with the Phoenix Suns and Orlando Magic, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski
Reports surfaced last month that the Mavs might be interested in dealing their sophomore with the emergence of rookie Luka Doncic as the primary ball-handler. Smith is averaging 12.6 points in 28 games.
The Suns have been known to be looking for a point guard for several months, while the Magic have been starting career backup D.J. Augustin at the point all season.
