Lowry reiterates commitment to Raptors amid trade rumors
Kyle Lowry's commitment to winning with the Toronto Raptors hasn't wavered amid trade rumors involving his name ahead of Thursday's deadline, and the point guard wants it known that he bleeds Raptors red.
"I personally want to be in Toronto," he said following the Raptors' 119-107 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday, according to The Athletic's Blake Murphy. "I never asked for a trade. My goal is to win a championship here and that's what I want to do. I've heard all the rumors just like that. I'm sure if anything were to happen, management would call me and talk to me and make me aware of anything that was going down.
"That's one of the things where I'm sure we have a good enough relationship to know what is going on."
Sports Illustrated's Jake Fischer reported on Tuesday afternoon that the Memphis Grizzlies rejected an offer of Lowry and Jonas Valanciunas for Marc Gasol and Mike Conley. Memphis reportedly initiated those talks, though, while attempting to assess the market for the team's veteran stars, according to Sportsnet's Michael Grange.
Lowry scored 20 points on 7-of-16 shooting in the win over Philadelphia, adding six assists and a pair of steals in 35 minutes of action to help Toronto improve to 39-16.
