Westbrook breaks NBA record with 10th straight triple-double

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook recorded his 10th straight triple-double Monday, surpassing Wilt Chamberlain for the longest streak in NBA history.

Westbrook finished with 21 points, 14 rebounds, and 11 assists to break the record in a 120-111 win over the Portland Trail Blazers.

During this 10-game stretch, Westbrook is averaging 19.7 points, 13.2 rebounds, and 13.8 assists. The Thunder have won nine of those contests.

Chamberlain's nine-game streak closed out the 1967-68 season, as the Hall of Fame center averaged 26.7 points, 23.7 rebounds, and 12.2 assists over that span.

Westbrook is averaging a triple-double for a third consecutive season with 21.2 points, 11.1 boards, and 11.2 dimes.

The 30-year-old will have an opportunity to stretch the streak to 11 games when the Thunder square off against the New Orleans Pelicans on Thursday.
