The New Orleans Pelicans are releasing forward Markieff Morris after acquiring the veteran forward from the Washington Wizards prior to Thursday's trade deadline, league sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.
Washington received nine-year pro Wesley Johnson in the deal.
Morris is currently sidelined with transient cervical neuropraxia and last took the floor on Dec. 26. He was ruled out for at least six weeks on Jan. 3.
The 29-year-old has an expiring contract worth $8.6 million, which is $2.5 million more than Johnson's earnings in 2018-19.
