Parsons excited to rejoin Grizzlies: I'm ready to 'help my team win'
The Memphis Grizzlies have agreed on a plan that will allow Chandler Parsons to rejoin the team after failing to deal the oft-injured forward ahead of Thursday's trade deadline, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.
Parsons is reportedly expected to return to the lineup following the All-Star break.
"I've been eager to get back on the court since I was cleared to play on Dec. 21," Parsons told ESPN's Tim MacMahon on Saturday. "I'm glad the Grizzlies are giving me that opportunity. I've been training hard in Los Angeles for the last month and hoping I'd get a chance to play again this season. I'm ready to get back to Memphis and help my team win any way I can."
Parsons was forced onto the inactive list after suffering a knee injury in the third game of the season. He didn't return to the rotation in late December, despite having medical clearance to do so. The 30-year-old has been listed as a healthy inactive ever since.
The Grizzlies had been searching for a resolution with the frustrated forward, despite his eagerness to return to action.
"The most confusing part for me is I'm healthy," Parsons said in December. "I'm medically cleared by the people I work with every single day, that are experts at this kind of stuff, so it's frustrating to watch a team struggle and I'm sitting there on the bench healthy, dying to play."
Parsons' stint in Memphis has been marred by injuries since signing a four-year, $94-million deal in 2016. He's appeared in a combined 73 games for the Grizzlies.
